Abstract:In this paper,a novel contention avoidance mechanism for optical burst switching(OBS) network is proposed.According to traffic status, one or more than one dedicated wavelength is assigned to each ingress node in OBS network, and bursts will transmit along the dedicated wavelength channel to the destination nodes, thus the potential contention can be eliminated partly. Further, by means of traffic load balance spanning tree, wavelength reuse as well as applying the remained statistical multiplexing wavelength channel, the utilization of network resource can hold a sound level. Simulation result shows our scheme can greatly reduces the burst loss probability comparing to Optical Delay Line (FDL) and burst segment scheme.
